greek producer markos spanoudakis aka kreon has certainly made an impact on the electronic music scene.his percussive and jazz tipped sound has found its place through solo releases for labels such as cecille, robsoul and many more seminal underground imprints. his latest offering on serialism has been widely received by a small handfull of the scenes elite who have been dropping tracks from the ep all summer hualtor kicks of proceedings with delayed vocal stabs that roll over a 4x4 kick and a doubled up snare. the bass groove cleverly pitches up and down and is completed with a series of shuffled hi hats which complete this minimalistic winner. up next on a2 is forpsyche, which encomopasses a tough and rolling drum selection with swing added for good measure, a sub bass, warm pads and erratic lead stabs bring the all the elements together nicely. third track ‘valtera’ then keeps to kreons signature laid back grooves, shuffling drum licks and the use of processed vocal stabs, the track seamlessly rolls with a series of lo-fi glitches and pitch shifted chord stabs. finally forpyke rounds off the package as it rolls out a sure fire drum selection full of swing and stripped-back percussive hits, repetitive chord textures ebb and flow throughout the composition which results in a truly hypnotic and raw dance floor killer, with intricate percussion patterns that are packed full of swing.

following the warm reception of the dance 2xlp album + live cd recording last year, kontra-musik now presents the dance remixes the dance remixed 2 features an ever-growing remix by efdemin - peak hour material without being boorish, just the way kontra-musik likes it. wa wu we and voices from the lake follow up with two tropical jungle expeditions: wa wu we s version of -fusion- is feverishly humid and hot while voices from the lake takes the nocturnal route, brooding darkness, heavy rain and strange creatures of the night squirming away from the flashlight. finally, northern electronics own ulwhednar (abdulla rashim & varg) takes the listener to completely different latitudes with a hyperborean remix filled with chilling harmonies and gangrene-inflicted beats.

keeping up their fine schedule, the spazio disponibile label is back with a fifth excellent ep, this time from modes. modes is an artist who is making his debut here, and he is one of a few guys spazio is creating a platform for in the coming months. modes fits right in with the deeply subliminal, transcendental style of the label and its associated party in rome. opener m52 is a supple and sci-fi mix of smooth rubber kicks and millsian melodies that are trippy and hypnotic. m51 is darker and moodier, with smeared pads and grainy ambience making for a big and shadowy chamber of end-of-days techno that is full of foreboding, and finally m44 is more forceful and brutal, with reverb and electricity static adding texture to the cavernous airwaves. compelling from start to finish, this is a fantastic debut from modes.

moscow records close 2016 with a fantastic 3-track ep from berlin imports roustam and tolga fidan. this being their first outing together, the pair deliver a high quality, intelligent journey through minimal house and techno. the record opens with brodsky beat, a groovy, dance floor-focused track. lively percussion and tight bass communicate perfectly with the hope-filled lead to build tension throughout. the omega variant on the a2 has a much more abstract feel. broken beats and skippy percussion play back and forth with deep, spacey hooks and a peculiar synth, giving the listener a sense of mystery. finally, growing up is just a phase is a calming 14 minute trip that uses the entirety of the b side to tell a story of reassurance and calm. laid-back rhythms, guitar samples, relaxed vocals and a wandering synth line work together to form the perfect warmup track.

after a considerable career releasing on numerous labels, as well as being co-founder of essen based label mild pitch, langenberg finally drops his first album under this alias. max heesen, (who is also one half of ribn with manuel tur) delivers the smartly titled central heated house for steve bug’s dessous recordings. the lp format suits langenbergs hypnotic house classicism well, allowing time and space to stretch out the grooves and moods over four sides of vinyl working both for the djs and perfect as a soundtrack for the autumn. the lp kicks off with jade, a melancholic, tape saturated introduction to langenbergs deep tastes. room 210 maintains this atmosphere, with fizzing percussion and warm detroit-esque melodies. groove 26 is perfectly timed for the hot summer, as lush rhodes chords and kdj style vocal snippets provide the heat for the openair vibes. the single from earlier this year shadows features the talents of vocalist blakkat, and caused some serious response when it hit airwaves and dancefloors alike. never worry is a heads down roller, built around a simple but perfectly executed bassline, while dreamliner is trippy laidback sunshine house all the way. ill be late and planitz proposal step back into the club, with langenbergs signature crisp percussion, crunchy hits and analog synth wizardry on full display. rain & roses closes out the album in a similar way to how it started wistful, thoughtful house music with soul.

correspondant can finally reveal the release of the remixes for man powers debut lp, which was released last year on correspondant. a year in the making, the remix package features artists and friends hand-picked by both jennifer cardini and man power himself. disco halals moscoman remixes the baggy splendour of beilsteiner, creating a rolling and belching extended opus more focused toward the peak time dance floor. hivern discs jmii takes hunting swan and turns it inside out, exploring space with a cerebral, schizophrenic quality. alternatively, pale blue (mike simonetti) takes boys beware and re-imagines it as an aggressive drum workout. completing the package, suade, the artist who also mastered the original album, replaces ten’s balearic leanings with an idm sensibility, yet still retains the optimism of the original track. all 4 remixes manage to exist as distinct works in their own right, while paying homage to the magpie approach of the original long player.

it took 2 years to finally release these reworks for the debut album by philogresz. taped wall of sound kinda drift from the cyclist aka buz ludzha complemented by zk bucket s straight on moody jam gives the ep a strained contrast. not to mention peak time euphoric philogresz remake of his own asakusa that is dedicated to the japanese eels in that neighborhood. gazing cutsz!

it all began with a licensing inquiry for a sister funk cut which we wanted to include on our deep funk comp titled “feeling nice vol. 3”. after the deal was completed producer fred forsh mentioned that the backing band of nadine brown’s masterpiece “leave me alone” had released a 45 themselves under their name teakwood. after mr. forsh played us both sides we knew that this 45 would have to be re-issued. what was about to follow nobody of us ever expected. mr. forsh told us that teakwood recorded almost a dozen of songs which were supposed to be released on a full length album. for unspecified reasons the album was never released and it remained in the can for almost 40 years. finally, we are very proud to announce the release of teakwood’s debut album “a distant star” in early 2017. until then you have to be content with this 45 rpm single re-issue.

gazel is one of those tunes that went viral from the very first minute. djs like baris k, ata or acid arab are still playin this tune since it was made in 2013. mehmet aslan and dario rohrbach finally managed to create with gazel this kind of tune that blows away every dance floor. the impact was not only on the dance floor. several threads on social media appeared with videos, desperately looking for the track id. but there were also the ones, that had to rip it of a set of baris k, so they can play it. the b-side goes definetly deeper when alma negra is able to make a tune you want to open your set. on this gem they combine northafrican folklore sounds with classic deephouse drumpatterns and trippy synths. fleeting wax has managed to put together some of the most promising artists of the hour, having dario rohrbach on board who is part of the alma negra collective and will hit this year with promising releases for example on yoruba. this release is going to find his way in many dj-bags and wont leave it so fast

after releasing one of lobster theremin’s biggest eps in the shape of “rules”, we’re please to finally see panthera krause back in the lobster den with a trippy, head-spinning white label of lucid house and acid.
drawing from a spectrum of electronic-island tropes blended with early 90’s rave, krause develops the chunky mpc-led sound of that first ep by adding layers of shimmer synth work, clanging piano samples, intergalactic acid processing and proper brain-churning drones from beyond the purple sea.

the second release on the vinyl only series of apes go bananas finally drops. the label is the new imprint from steve bug and clé, who together make up the production team for the releases. as with the well-received first ep, all we have is straight-up, no-nonsense, dance floor-filling house tracks. lead cut ‘all we have settles right into the groove with crisp and funky percussion, chi-town chords and amazing vocal samples. its got peak time written all over it. she cargo makes its influences pretty clear via the title, and the track certainly references some of the iconic sounds of the home of house. thick, rubbery bass lines, squiggly synths and firing percussion combine to deliver a suitable a homage to the windy city. ‘ape parade is built from some similar materials, but the chords are a little more lush and deep - synth strings and keys add a sense of the epic, and everything is tied together with a sick kick / snare / hat pattern. three modern killers for the floor, infused with the spirit of classic house.

after a quick 4 years hiatus, filled with releases on innervisions, maeve and a couple of remixes, aera is finally back on his own aleph music imprint with 3 unique tracks. a1. two planets is the most obvious track of the ep. an exercise in outsider trance, a pulsating, polyrhythmic synth propels the track forward, the intricate 707 pattern keeps a steady pace, while background strings provide all the drama. b1. stylistically reminiscent of aeras first releases on aleph music, black glitz is the deepest track of the bunch. floating on a cloud of dreamy pads and voices, that arpeggio makes you realise immediately who you are dealing with. b2. maskull is a rather ambiguous little tune. somewhat rough around the edges, sparkling in the darkness of late nights, dwelling in voices and fog, this is the one for the heads.

black atlass is quite literally the only artist on earth to soundtrack louis vuitton and yves saint laurent ads while featuring on action bronson songs. this diverse appeal is a testament to the captivating voice of alex fleming, the young singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and who created black atlass as a vehicle for his unique vocals, heart on-sleeve lyrics and experimental production techniques. following the well-received paris single and young bloods ep (the latter a personal favorite of visionary director woodkid, who created mind-bending visuals for single jewels featuring fleming and supermodel anja rubik) and the three singles released over the past year, haunted paradise, tonight, and island love, black atlass is finally ready to drop his full-length debut.

one sided vinyl with silkscreened b side, comes in clear sleeve with poster numbered, edition of 350 dreams really come true: when we heard tomemitsu s beautiful lo-fi indie songs on the cassette -m_o_d_e_s- back in 2013 we fell in love! especially the track -in dreams- followed us around for months. humming it in the subway, singing along in the car. many dreams later we found out that our friend and fellow hamburger stefan marx also loves the song and even named an art show after it. coincidence? surely not, so together we made the plan to release -in dreams- on vinyl. luckily tomemitsu himself was very happy with the idea and even allowed rss disco to remix the song. the notorious dj and production trio upped the tempo to head-spinning 99bpm, recorded additional drums & bass and added several minutes of pleasure. finally, the two tracks will be released on vinyl for the first time. screen-printed records, including a poster in a clear sleeve. music by tomemitsu, designed by stefan marx, remixed by rss disco, released by mireia records. it s all a dream!
